Rest Day – Logroño

Kari, Ali

The tapas bars in Calle del Laurel were tiny and in most there was standing room only. The counters were covered in trays of pintxos – tiny portions of food presented either on bread or on a stick. There seemed to be rivalry between establishments to see who could produce the most spectacular gastronomic displays. We were tempted by shards of Serrano ham, triangles of manchego cheese, skewers of croquettas filled with ham or fish, and little glasses with cold soups, but we settled for a bowl of fish stew and some calamari bravas (our new favourite).
